About
The Nikore Associates Fellowship is a two-week programme for early career professionals, undergraduate and postgraduate students who are keen to explore the discipline of economic policy and research. It is designed to develop skills in research, op-ed writing, presentation, and communication along with a hands-on experience of working on live projects, including an op-ed piece.
The cohort of fellows will be exposed to the workings of the Nikore Associates community and will be assigned a mentor to ensure training across different fields of knowledge.

Mitali Nikore
Founder, Nikore Associates
Mitali Nikore, a New Delhi-based economist, a widely published researcher and writer, is a Development Consultant for the Asian Development Bank's Indian Resident Mission and a short-term consultant for the World Bank. In addition, she is a Global Shaper with the World Economic Forum's Global Shapers Community's New Delhi Hub. She also serves as an advisor to the BRICS CCI Young Leader Steering Committee and manages and publishes a regular blog titled "Irrational Economics" as a Columnist for the Times of India. Her work in South Asia and Africa at the national and sub-national levels spans infrastructure development, MSMEs, and economic corridors. Mitali has researched infrastructure finance gaps, gender-based discrimination, policy formulation, and programmatic and project-level solutions.
Charmi Mehta
Senior Researcher, Nikore Associates
Charmi Mehta is a Senior Researcher at Nikore Associates and a Research Consultant at Finance Research Group, Mumbai. She graduated from the National Law School of India University in Bengaluru with bachelor's degrees in Economics and Law and a master's degree in Public Policy. She has previously worked with Asia Society India Centre, the Government of Karnataka and Center for Science and Environment. Her research interests lie at the intersection of public finance, regulatory governance, energy and climate policy. She has widely published across news platforms and regularly writes for Down to Earth.
Shivani Jain
Communication Adivisor, Nikore Associates
Equipped with a Master’s degree in Mass Communications & Journalism, Shivani's interests include lobbying for gender equality, human rights, and women's representation in politics. With over five years in the social sector, she has previously worked with UNESCO, ADB, Indian National Congress and is now handling digital communications for UNDP India. She was also a Young Leader for the Obama Foundation's Townhall (India) and a Youth Delegate for the India-China Youth Dialogue, hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of China in New Delhi. Her ultimate objective is to harness the power of dialogue to empower nations to build an inclusive approach to world peace.
Nameetta Nierakkal
Research Associate, Nikore Associates
Nameetta Nierakkal is a Research Associate at Nikore Associate and is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree in Economics from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. She has previously worked with the Frontier Centre for Public Policy in Canada and the New Research Centre in Mumbai. She has authored several papers relating to sustainability and humanitarian catastrophe, all of which have been published in reputable journals. Her research interests lie at the intersection of sustainability, free markets and public finance.
Manvika Gupta
Senior Researcher, Nikore Associates
Manvika is a Monitoring and Evaluation Officer with UNICEF in New Delhi, and she has a bachelor's degree in economics from Shri Ram College of Commerce. She formerly worked as an actuarial consultant for a UK-based general insurer, where she used statistical models to analyze reserve bookings. She has worked as a behavioural economist, focusing on applying behavioural economics to solve managerial challenges. She aspires to apply economic ideas and data analytics to drive social and economic research.
Vidhi Narang
Senior Researcher, Nikore Associates
Vidhi holds an undergraduate degree in Economics from NMIMS University, Mumbai, and aspires to work in the social advancement sector. She has experience working with NGOs on gender sensitization and skill development. She is pursuing a master’s in public policy from NLS, Bangalore, and desires to be involved in the formulation of policies addressing gender-related challenges and skill-building.
Ishita Uppadhayay
Editorial Associate, Nikore Associates
Ishita Uppadhayay is an undergraduate English Literature student at King's College London with a sustained interest in economics and public policy. As the Editorial Team Lead at Nikore Associates, she contributed to research writing and editing, in addition to supervising and coordinating the editorial team's operations. Ishita is also committed to young journalism, serving as Co-Editor at The King's Tab and Essays Editor at Strand Magazine.
Girish Sharma
Research Associate, Nikore Associates
Girish Sharma is a Research Associate at Nikore Associates and is pursuing an Economics (Hons.) from Symbiosis School of Economics, Pune. He contributed to numerous research projects and initiatives on pressing economic issues. Girish has authored research papers and analytical reports on gender inequality, macroeconomic history, and finance. His research interests include Development Economics, Social Sector Economics, and Economic Theory.

Programme Rigour
The NA Fellowship is designed to be a short and rigorous programme. During the course of the fellowship, fellows will be expected to meet multiple deadlines.

On average, all fellows are expected to put in a minimum of 10 – 12 hours per week. The instructors recommend going through the material in advance and spending 30 mins before and after the module for better understanding and retention.

All op-ed submissions must be jointly prepared by the team of fellows working on them.

Candidates will be given a completion certificate upon meeting the criterion for successful graduation.
